TURKEY IMPORT REQUIREMENTS: DO I NEED A VISA TO TURKEY?

Visitors from many countries need a visa to enter Turkey. Citizens of more than 50 countries can apply for an e-visa to Turkey: E-visa applicants do not need to visit an embassy or consulate.

Travelers who meet the e-visa requirements are granted a single – or multiple-entry visa, depending on their nationality. The maximum length of stay with E-Visa varies from 30 to 90 days.

Certain nationalities can enter Turkey visa-free for a limited time. EU Citizens countries can enter for up to 90 days without a visa.

Russian citizens can enter visa-free for up to 60 days, and some nationalities, including Thailand and Costa Rica, can enter for up to 30 days.

Single-entry visa for Turkey

Special conditions for the Turkey eVisa

Foreigners from certain countries that are eligible for a single-entry visa need to meet one or more of the following special requirements for a Turkish e-Visa:

A valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States. Electronic residence and electronic visa permits are not accepted.
Travel with an airline approved by the Foreign Affairs Turkish Ministry
Hold hotel reservation
Have proof of adequate financial means ($50 a day)

Nationalities are allowed to enter Turkey quickly without a visa

Not all foreigners require a visa for Turkey. Visitors from certain countries can enter without a visa for a limited time.

Some nationalities that are allowed to enter Türkiye without a visa are:

  • All EU citizens

  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Russia
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom

Visa-free visits range from 30 days to 90 days in a 180-day period, depending on nationality.

Only tourist activities without a visa are allowed, for all other purposes of sightseeing a relevant entry permit is required.

Nationalities that do not meet Turkey E-Visa requirements

Passport holders from these countries cannot apply for a Turkish visa online. Since they do not meet the eligibility requirements of the Turkish eVisa, they must apply for a traditional visa through a diplomatic mission:

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR TURKEY E-VISA?

Eligible nationals of other countries must complete an electronic visa application form. To meet Turkey’s eVisa requirements and successfully complete an application, travelers need:

Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival (3 months for Pakistani passport holders)
Email address to receive notifications and approved eVisa
Debit or credit card to pay eVisa fees in Turkey

PASSPORT REQUEST FOR TURKEY

In order for a foreigner to meet the Turkish visa requirements, their passport must:

Valid for 6 months after arrival date
Issued by an eligible country for eVisa Turkey

You must use the same passport to apply for a visa and to go to Turkey. Visa and passport information must match exactly.

Additional documents required to enter Turkey during COVID-19

There are some additional health requirements for traveling to Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Passengers should complete the  Application for entry into Turkey. This health declaration form is completed and submitted electronically.

Travelers no longer need vaccine certificates, negative coronavirus test results or documentation, or recovery. The restrictions were lifted in June 2022.
